A 40-year old man, Kingsley Ndubisi, has been arrested and arraigned
before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court for sexually assaulting a 10-month
old girl inside a church in Lagos State.
The suspect is facing a one-count charge of felony to wit, defilement of a minor.
Police at Elemoro Division, Ibeju Lekki, EtiOsa, Lagos had told
DailyPost that the incident occurred at the True Tabernacle Church,
Majek Farms, Abijo, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
It was alleged that Ndubisi was arrested following a complaint by the
parents of the victim that the accused, on 14 March, 2013 at the church
defiled their 10-monthold daughter by fingering her private part. This,
they said resulted into serious bleeding from the girl’s private part.
The accused allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
After investigation by a police team led by Corporal Raymond Udoeka
at the police division, the accused was charged to court for the offence
which is punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos
State of Nigeria, 2011.
Ndubisi however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and Magistrate Mrs.
A.F. Adeeyo granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in
like sum who must have proof of tax payment to the Lagos State
government.
She adjourned the matter till 5th April, 2013 for mention and ordered
that the defendant be remanded at the Ikoyi Prison pending when he
would fulfill the bail condition.
